Good morning! I have never posted sketches on the blog, but we used to put sketches on the back-side of all our paper crafting kits. So I do know a thing or two about making them.
In fact, as a student in advertising design, one semester we had an assignment to fill an entire sketch book with layout ideas (sketches). Yep, we use them in advertising too, we just call them thumbnails or roughs depending on the size and detail.
There are lots of ways to come up with a great sketch, but one of the easiest is to knock off somebody else's great idea. Why re-invent the wheel, right? This may be a bad practice when you are being paid the big bucks to be original and creative, but when you are just enjoying a hobby, it's fantastic!
Here's one that is lifted from Anthropolgie's website. I always love their style. If you see some design that you love, think to yourself, "Hey, how could I use that in my scrapbooking."
Here's what their homepage looks like.
Here's our interpretations.
We liked this one best:
Little sketches are a great way to try lots of ideas really quickly. They don't need to be any more exact than this. If you like this sketch, and you want to create a layout using it, put a link here. We'll feature our favorite ones next week with another sketch.
Have a great day everyone!
