I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all YELLOW!
As you will recall, this weeks challenge is to use the color yellow. And you have a lot to pick from. There is at least one yellow paper in each of the new lines. They should be showing up in your local stores as we speak.
You may also remember we will donate $5 and a can of food to our local food bank if you complete a project and post it on our facebook fanpage or in the comments on our challenge post.
I have plans for more, but here is a card I made during a blizzard yesterday. It was nice to work with such a warm sunny color and for a good cause. It really made the grey weather less depressing!
I used a paper from Baby Jane's mini deck and paired it with our Salt Air fabric. This is a really quick card to make even with the machine stitching.
1. Cut the background mat 1/8" smaller than your card base.
2. Cut a second paper the size you want your bow.
3. Cut a strip of fabric the 1/2" wider than that paper.
4. Finger press the raw edges back and on the back side of the bow paper, stitch the fabric down along the short end (I'll bet you could just use glue, but I sewed for extra strength since I would be pulling against it).
5. Bring your strip to the front and slide on your gem (you can also use a loop of fabric if you don't have any ribbon slides). Then you'll know how long to cut your fabric.
Trim the fabric and glue it to the back side (you definitely don't need to stitch this time because you won't be pulling against it.)
6. I then top-stitched along the edges of my bow, but you wouldn't have too. I think you could glue it if you did it before you glued down the second end.
7. Adhere this unit to the larger mat and adhere that to your card!
We will post our favorite projects here on the blog Monday morning when we post our next challenge. If you have a challenge idea you would like to see happen, let us know!
