Welcome to the Cosmo Cricket blog Creative Spaces blog hoppers!
I'm Julie and I share my space with my hubby and fellow creative, Eric.
And my dog Suki!
With four kids running around in the background.
I design lots of interesting stuff from decorative mason jar accessories like this:
To paper, stickers, stamps, fabric, cell phone cases, wall art, stationery and projects like this:
Everybody loved this project when I first posted it online. I took it to CHA where Jen Schaerer asked if I would feature it in my office for Creative Spaces.
It didn't really fit with the style of my space, so instead I am giving you free access to my original drawing. Download it, print it, share it, but don't use it for any commercial purposes or you will get in trouble... it is copyrighted ©Julie Comstock 2013 and commercial use is strictly prohibited without express written consent. (Sorry for the legalities, let's get back to the fun!)
Although I did draw this by hand with pencil, I scanned and printed my drawing onto our kraft paper for the above project. That way, I had no eraser marks or unwanted mistakes in the final piece.
There are lots of fun prints in our Krafternoon deck. I used the hearts as you can see. I love how the ink took to the kraft paper. It really looks looks like I used a brush right on the page.
Next, I pleated 3 x 12" strips of our pink chiffona paper from the She's got Tissues paper deck.
To do this, just make tiny fan folds down the entire 12" length so the skirt sections are 3" wide (I hope that makes sense). Tie the folds off at the center so that 1.5" is on either side of the knot. The chiffona paper is sturdier than regular tissue stock and won't tear when tied with string.
Adhere your pleated skirt sections something like this.
The top layers are glued to stick out perpendicularly from the background. The lower layers get more and more flat on the paper.
Finally, add a border of our Adhesive Glitter sheets to frame it all. I used our copper colored glitter cut into 1/4" strips.
All that is left is to leave a comment to win this issue of Creative Spaces plus all the paper decks and glitter I've talked about in this post! After that, check out the rest of the blog hop.
Thanks everyone! We'll announce the winner next Monday, here on the blog so be sure to check back.
