Let's start with truth. The photo in this project is not my photo. I have never met this little girl. She is the daughter of one of my sister's friends (used with permission). I don't even know her name. Those seashells in my jar are not ones she collected. I bought them at TJ Max. In short, this project is a fraud.
But wait, Julie, you promised to only do projects you really wanted to do? You promised to be authentic?!
Well, you see, I have a job. Part of that job is making pretty things for sales people to use in presentations. Although Austin has no beaches to collect seashells, if I lived by the ocean and if I had cute photos of my kids seaside, jars like these would be on my mantle (I would have to have a mantle too though!).
I think these shell-filled mason jars are so pretty that I wanted to share the idea. So, for all you beach lovers, whether you collect your own shells or have to buy them pre-collected, this project is for you. Just don't start putting photos of other people's kids on display. That is creepy!
