Mini accordion Tag-Album
by
Gudrun Loennecken.
This Mini-Album is made with patterned paper from the garden variety collection.
I love the colorful, fun patterns and the happy colors.
My album will be a garden “dairy” for my two little girls.
They love gardening, and they have their own little garden just outside our house.
This album will be a place to keep pictures and write notes of how the garden grows through the spring, summer and autumn.
The album consists of 8 pockets with tags inside.
For this project I have used
the mini deck 6x6 papers, “Garden Variety”
“Garden Variety” labels and borders to embellish
yellow cardstock
white / neutral cardstock to make tags inside the pockets
sewing machine
paper-trimmer
scissor
1. gather 8 patterned papers from the 6x6 Garden Variety mini deck.
Fold the 6x6 papers in half lengthwise
Cut yellow cardstock in 7 pieces measuring 2 x 6 inch each
Fold the yellow pieces of cardstock in half lengthwise
2. add one piece of folded patterned paper on each side of the folded yellow cardstock. Use your sewing machine and sew along the edges to attach the cardstock to the patterned paper-pockets. The edges of the yellow cardstock will be hidden inside the pockets. The pieces of cardstock are only meant to bind the accordion-album together, it will hardly be visible when the album is finished.
3. put two and two of the 8 folded patterned papers together with a stripe of yellow cardstock. machine-stitch to fasten
4. you now have 4 pair of pockets
5. grab your scissor and cut along the folded side of the pockets all the way down.
Do the same to all the pockets
6. gather the rest of the 4 pieces of yellow cardstock, and add one patterned “pocket” on each side of the stripe of cardstock.
Machine stitch along the edges to attach the cardstock, and along the bottom of the pocket.
7. The album is now looking like a accordion with 8 different patterned pockets
8. Use the white / neutral cardstock to make 8 tags that will fit inside the pockets. My tags measures a little bit less than 3 inch X 6 ½ inch.
Use the rest of the cardstock to make labels outside the pockets. I’ve rounded the edges of my tags and labels with my corner punch, and cut a little half circle on top of each pocket with my 1 inch hole-punch.
9. embellish the accordion album with the cute garden variety labels and borders. I have stamped the name of the months to each pocket.
10. The album is ready to be filled with happy, wonderful garden-memories.
Hope you enjoyed this little tutorial.
Happy creating.
