Well, we're back from sunny CA and we loved it. Seriously I dream of moving to California. I love the sunshine and Providence, Utah doesn't seem to have any. OK, here's the highlights of our trip.
We woke the kids up at 5:30am to leave to the airport. We didn't tell them a thing, but they each got a new pair of flip flops (to get through security easier) and so they new something was up. The problem with keeping surprises from our kids is that they have gotten older and can read much better. Ethan was watching every sign! Fortunately the public school system along with Eric and myself have completely failed him in the geography department and he thought Los Angeles was in Las Vegas.
We took them to "How to Train Your Dragon" and we loved it. If you haven't seen it, I would recommend it. Disneyland was packed, but fun. We even ran into a blog stalker and Matt Hearkman from Heroes.
The beach is always my favorite and I could have spent the entire trip there!
Lindsay will update you all this week on his trip and how it went meeting his dad....... stay tuned.
OK, I have a guilty pleasure. It's shopping stores like TJMaxx, Ross and Thrift stores for goodies to use in paper crafting projects. TJMaxx always has cute home decore stuff perfect for altering and the prices are usually quite reasonable. Here's two of my recent projects.
The first is a planter, but I just thought these shoes were adorable.
I cut some styrofoam to fit inside and filled it with Natasja's rose bud flowers made out of Garden Variety and Material Girl papers.
They are not even glued. I just rolled them tightly and then poked them into the foam with a pin.
The whole project took about 15 minutes and it's so spring and fun to look at.
The next idea I stole from one of our competitors who shall remain nameless. This is a great idea for decorating a retail space. It shows how fun different patterns of paper work together. I did this to show the Garden Variety and Material Girl papers. Simply roll up some papers you want to showcase to let your customers know how brilliantly they work together.
What? You are a crafter and you don't have a store. Well, I think this would make a super cute addition to any scraproom...... if you have enough papers you can part with.
