Our day will be tomorrow and we too will be giving away prizes. Ours will be Social Club fabric of course! That is what I used in the quilt I made for Jack's new headboard.
I used a couple charm packs and he picked out the blues that filled in the rest. We clipped it up with a couple Cosmo Cricket project hangers so that when he wants to get it down for a cuddle he can.
Since I'm such a novice quilter, I feel silly trying to teach anyone else how to do it, but after posting some progress updates on facebook, a couple friends asked if I would.
Warning: This is a free pattern. Use at your own risk. Like all free advice, it is probably worth about what it costs!!!
All seams are 1/4" of course and as the girls at Moda taught me, mark that 1/4" right on your machine because the edge of your foot may not be accurate.
My next advice is to go easy on yourself. If things don't end up being perfect, you can borrow some of the mental dialogue that I use to get myself through:
1. Well, I won't need to create a special humility block. I just created a humility quilt. I am the most humble person ever. I'm so proud of my humility!
2. I am brave! Many people are too afraid to even try this and look at me go.
3. I just learned three new ways to string four letter words together. Quilting is really building my communication skills.
4. Why hasn't anyone invented a sewing in reverse machine? I think there's money to be made in that product. I'm going to present the idea in my next product development meeting.
5. Come on Julie..... pioneer women had to hand stitch the whole thing. Surely you can make it through one side of the binding!
Enjoy the hop my friends!
